Adhesive Label Sticker five image formats not suitable for printing

Every day we are exposed to various image formats such as PNG and BMP in the process of purchasing printed images, creating files and pre-checking files
GIF, JPEG, etc. But we often don't know what these acronyms mean and which image formats are better suited for print production.

Claudia McCue, author of the book "Actual Print Production", not only explains how to print the ideal living part, but also points out the problems that printers should avoid during the production process. With the help of these tips, you may not waste too much time in the process of monitoring production.

1. Some image formats are more suitable for screen and web use. For example, PNG (short for Portable Network Graphics, meaning portable network images) can contain image elements such as RGB, indexed colors, and transparency. Although PNG images can achieve higher resolution, it does not have the ability to support CMYK color space.

2. The Windows format BMP (short for Bitmap) can support color depth from 1 bit (black and white, no grayscale) to 32 bit (millions of colors), but it does not have support for CMYK, so it is not suitable for printing.

3.GIF (Graphics Interchange Format abbreviation, meaning graphics interchange format) is only suitable for use on the network, because its original resolution is relatively low, and can only play a maximum of 256 colors. So never use GIF images in print.

4.JPEG (short for Joint Photographic Expert Group) takes its name from the committee that created it and has a very high reputation in the printing industry. It is a lossy compression algorithm, in other words, it throws out certain information in the image in order to produce a smaller digital file.

5. If an image has a high enough resolution, then printing with a slightly compressed JPEG file will not significantly damage the quality of the image, but if too much information is compressed, then the image will be distorted where there are rectangles, especially in the detail area.

It can be seen that printing is not an arbitrary process, we only choose the right image format, in order to lay a solid foundation for perfect printing production.
