The first way is the profile provided by the manufacturer with the device when purchasing the device. It can meet the general color management requirements of the device. When the application software of the device is installed, the profile is loaded into the system.
The second way is to use the special profile software, according to the actual situation of the existing equipment, generate the applicable color feature description file, so that the generated file is usually more accurate, but also more in line with the actual situation of the user. Because the state of equipment, material and process will change or offset with time. Therefore, profiles need to be remade every once in a while to adapt to the current state of color response.
Now, let's take a look at how color is transferred across devices.
Firstly, for a normal color manuscript, the scanner is used to scan and input it. Because the profile of the scanner provides the corresponding relationship from the color on the scanner (red, green, blue tri-stimulus values) to the CIE1976Lab chromaticity space, the operating system can obtain the chromaticity value Lab of the original color according to this conversion relationship.
The scanned image is displayed on the monitor screen. Since the system has mastered the corresponding relationship between Lab chromaticity values and red, green and blue driving signals on the monitor, the red, green and blue chromaticity values of the scanner are not directly used in the display, but the conversion relationship given by the profile of the monitor from the Lab chromaticity values of the original manuscript in the previous step is used. Get the red, green and blue display drive signals that can correctly display the original color on the screen, and drive the display to display the color. This ensures that the colors displayed on the monitor match the colors of the original manuscript.
After the operator observes the accurate image color display, it can adjust the image according to the screen color according to the customer's requirements, and because of the profile of the printing equipment, after the image color separation, the correct color after printing can be observed on the display. When the operator is satisfied with the color of the image, the image is color separated and stored. In color separation, the correct dot percentage is obtained according to the color conversion relationship carried by the profile of the printing device.
