1. Thick and brittle ink film
Frosted ink particles are coarse, and the diameter of the additive particles is about 15-30 μm. The thickness of the ink layer after screen printing can reach 100-150 μm, and the surface of the ink film is rough and uneven. In addition, the printing material is a non-absorbent material. Adhesion is poor, so the ink film is thick. It has the characteristics of high brittleness and is prone to burst when subjected to high pressure.
2. Improper drying after printing
When the frosted ink passes through the UV curing device after printing, the temperature of the illuminated surface is too high, the polymerization reaction continues, and the ink layer automatically explodes after curing.
3. Improper operation of die-cutting and indentation
The quality of die-cutting indentation is the main factor affecting the appearance quality of the carton. Unreasonable selection of die-cutting knife and indentation steel wire, improper use, etc. are the main reasons for the explosion of the ink layer, such as the dullness of the die-cutting knife.
4. Improper handling of paper
The structure of the paper, improper handling before and during printing are also factors that cannot be ignored. Too poor paper quality or too low water content in the paper will increase the brittleness and reduce the toughness of the paper, which will also cause the ink layer to burst. If the paper has not been conditioned for humidity or the semi-finished products are stored improperly, the water content of the paper is low, and the paper becomes brittle after high temperature and calendering, and it is easy to crack after being pressed.
Prevention of ink layer explosion
1. Designing the frosted pattern correctly
When designing, the frosted pattern should avoid the molding place of the packaging box as much as possible, and it should be at least 2-3mm away from the indentation and die-cutting position, so as to avoid damaging the frosted ink during die-cutting, so as to highlight the three-dimensional effect.
2. Select the appropriate frosted ink, reasonably control the thickness of the ink layer and the UV curing temperature according to the drying method.
First of all, it is necessary to ensure that the mesh number and particle size of the wire mesh are compatible with each other. Generally, use 150-200 mesh for coarse sand, 200-250 mesh for medium sand, and 300-400 mesh for fine sand. Secondly, in the printing process, the viscosity of the ink should be correctly selected according to the size of the ink particle size. The coarse sand is generally controlled at 2000±100CPS, the medium sand is controlled at 3000±100CPS, and the fine sand is controlled at 3500±100CPS. Add as few ink additives as possible. Choose the right UV lamp. The power of the UV lamp is recommended to be about 10kW. The UV curing equipment must be equipped with a cooling device. Generally, a large-diameter air duct is used and a water cooling device is installed on the lamp, so as to avoid the thermal deformation of the paper jam when passing through the light curing device. Paper is brittle.
3. Reasonable design and arrangement of die-cutting process
The perfect shape of the carton comes from the correct die-cut indentation. The properties of gold (silver) cardboard and matte ink determine the complexity of the die-cutting and creasing process.
4. Maintain proper temperature and humidity
Gold (silver) cardboard needs to be treated with humidity control before printing to make its moisture content stable. During the storage of semi-finished products and during the die-cutting process, attention should be paid to keeping the temperature and humidity of the workshop constant to ensure that the paper has a suitable moisture content. The worse the quality of the base paper and the drier the cardboard, the higher the chance of line bursts in the print. If the weather changes abnormally, the die-cutting processing time and the production of the die-cutting blade should be adjusted in time. Do not die-cut when the paper and ink film are brittle.
