The gamut range of digital proofing is greater than the gamut range of printing. In theory, digital proofing can simulate all colors of printed matter and achieve 100% matching. However, this is not the case in fact, the matching algorithm between the two gamuts has a certain error, and there are many uncertain factors in digital proofing and printing, which are difficult to control.
Firstly, the principle of digital proofing is analyzed
Digital proofing is to use CMYK four-color ink to simulate the color of printing, printing ink and printing ink hue is different, so each ink color is simulated with different proportions of CMYK ink, even monochrome ink is also the case. For example, the printed monochrome magenta is synthesized with the printer's CMYK four-color ink, rather than using only magenta ink simulation.
Secondly, it analyzes the color matching process of digital proofing
The adjustment process of digital proofing is: first, a normal printing state is determined, and the test sample is printed under this state to obtain the color characteristic file of the printing source ICC. Then, the printing source ICC is used to debug the digital proofing, so that the proofing proof is as close as possible to the printing proof. After the adjustment is completed and the relevant proofing parameters are determined, the digital proofing is used as the printing sample, and the printing in turn follows the digital sample.
Therefore, the accuracy of the printing source ICC file has a great influence on the effect of digital proofing and color. If the obtained printing ICC color characteristic file does not reflect the normal production state of the printing machine, the digital proofing is also in an abnormal state, and it will be difficult to print the samples in the future.
