To print high-quality Cosmetic Boxes barcodes, the ink color and performance should be selected like this!

According to the ink requirements of barcode printing, we all know that the color difference caused by the color matching of ink, the thickness and concentration of the ink layer, the spreadability of the ink, the amount of ink supply, and the pressure of printing will affect the reading of the barcode by the scanner.

   1. When matching the colors of the ink, consider the color shift of the ink

The color shift of the ink also has a great influence on the accuracy of the barcode. Theoretically speaking, as long as the ink is used in accordance with the color ratio of Table 1, the bar code requirements can be met, but due to the impure hue of the printing ink, the phenomenon of color cast will occur. For example, the blue ink absorbs the red light incorrectly, which will increase the reflectivity of the red light and reduce the PCS value of the barcode.

Therefore, the color of the ink should be strictly controlled, so that the ink density is uniform, the hue is saturated, and the purity is high. It is best to determine whether the reflectivity of a certain ink under red light meets the requirements before printing the magnetic bar code. Metallic ink (such as gold), due to its reflectivity and gloss, will cause specular reflection and affect the scanner's reading, so it cannot be used to print bar codes.

   2. Barcode printing requires ink concentration and ink layer thickness

Because bar code printing is solid printing, the reflection density D that its printing can achieve is related to the optical properties of the ink and the thickness of the ink layer. In the printing process, the reflection density of the printed product increases with the increase of the ink thickness, but when the ink thickness reaches a certain value, the density reaches saturation.

Depending on the printing process, the thickness of the ink layer on the printed matter is different. Offset printing is 2~4μm, embossing is 8μm, flexo printing is 10μm, gravure printing is 12μm, and silk printing can reach 30μm. According to the calculation, the on-the-spot reflection density of the printed products obtained from the above-mentioned printing types can reach more than 0.3. In addition, the black, cyan, blue, and green colors fully absorb red light, so the above-mentioned printing processes are used to print the bar code color, reflecting The rate can meet the requirements.

  3. Requirements for ink spreadability

Ink viscosity directly affects ink fluidity and ink spreadability. In bar code printing, the ink viscosity is low, the ink spread is large, and the bars are easy to thicken. Therefore, the ink viscosity for bar code printing should not be too high.

  4, ink supply

If the ink supply is too large, the substrate cannot be completely absorbed quickly, and it will spread on the surface of the substrate, resulting in a decrease in accuracy.

  5, printing pressure

On the one hand, if the pressure is too high, the shearing stress of the ink will increase, and the fluidity will become larger, which will cause the ink to spread; on the other hand, if the pressure is too high, the impression area between the plate cylinder and the impression cylinder will become wider, which will also cause the bar code. Will become wider.

Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the printing pressure, printing speed and other factors to an appropriate level according to different printing methods, the rheology of different inks and the ink absorption properties of the printing materials.
