Using Kids Reading Books color management and remote proofing to advance the era of remote printing
According to the current world trend and the use of digital proofing manufacturers, in fact, digital proofing technology has been quite mature, basically this technology is built on the digital network, in terms of the current practice situation, this trend is foreseeable future.
First, the development trend of remote printing technology
(1)One input Many out-of-put applications
With the development of cross-platform and cross-media file formats such as XML and PDF, it is of great benefit to the use of communication process and automatic production. Combined with the concept of Database, a single input information file (One input) and Many outputs as applications, in addition to print output, other web pages, CD electronic media can use these files.
(2)Internet application and color management technology
Rapid and convenient network transmission and the advancement of file compression technology, as well as the application of color management technology, so that the network plate printing, which is currently only for small files, will gradually become remote proofing and remote dispersion printing. (Figure 2)
(c) In the future, the printing industry has the opportunity to play the role of the integrator of the multimedia digital world, using the professional advantages of the printing industry from the original Prepress to Premedia.
(4) In the future, the printing industry will transform into an information carrier service provider, media solution provider, and multimedia digital world integrator (integrating digital content data → digital content industry).
(5) From printing to information integration, including information application, digital graphics integration, and long-term development trends such as document management, database applications, security mechanisms, electronic invoice billing, digital asset management, digital content publishing.
There are several key points in the development of remote printing technology, and its core key technologies are color management technology, PDF process, Hybrid dot and color standardization concept. These key factors will be the factors that we need to pay special attention to when developing remote printing.
Second, ICC Profile color management system
(1) In order to solve the problem of incompatibility among various Color management system manufacturers, several major computer and peripheral equipment manufacturers established the ICC-International Color Consortium in 1993, and established the standard format of color characteristics description file. It is called ICC Profile Specification.
(2)ICC defines the color Profile of each device to support the establishment of the color characteristics of each device, that is, the input device, display device, output device after the characteristic standard procedure processing, the so-called color profile (ICC Profile) is generated and embedded in the image file. These files include PICT, EPS, TIFF and JFIF image files, and then the color description files of different devices are linked through different color space conversion modes.
(c) In the PC PC Windows 98/NT4.0 above the operating platform is the use of ICM 2.0 file format (Image Color Manage-ment) to support the storage and application of ICC Profile.
(4) On Apple Macintosh operating platforms, the Color Sync 2.5 file format is used to support ICC profiles.
(5)ICC Profile is used to string the conversion of color space between different devices, providing a set of profile Standards that manufacturers can follow, and has become the industry's recognized color Profile standards (Profile Standards). In the future, as long as the profile of each device meets the ICC standard, the color management software can be used to achieve the goal of maintaining color consistency.
Third, color quality control technology
It is mainly divided into two parts: one is the color management of general printed matter, and the other is the color quality control in digital files. First of all, the general print control, general printing is the most basic problem of output gauge, usually several common control methods are registration control analysis, full plate concentration control, dot growth control and gray balance control four methods.
The other is the ICC Profile color description file quality assessment. When we input an image file into the computer, whether the Profile data generated on the computer is correct, we can use the created description file to add to the image, when it is added, there is a significant change. The Centre has also developed compatible ICC Profile software technology, which can be used to evaluate the color space is correct, check the Profile used is abnormal, if necessary, manufacturers can contact the Centre.
Next, I want to remind you of the key points to pay attention to when making color quality control:
(a) The selection of digital proofing systems in the market should be based on accuracy and stability; If you cannot meet these two requirements, it is not a reliable digital proofing system.
(b) The main factors that generally affect the digital proofing system are: printing speed, operating costs and color management.
(3) Spray painting speed: In terms of speed, it can be found in the market to spray a high-resolution pair of printouts within 10 minutes.
(d) Operating cost: mainly depends on the price of ink and paper for proofing.
(5) Color management: depends on the accuracy and stability, but also the most important factor, even if the speed is fast, the cost is low, if you can not accurately and stably pre-view the printing effect, but may lead to greater economic and time loss in the later printing operation.
(6) Digital proofing color evaluation:
1. The main methods commonly used to evaluate color are:
(1) Visual method - Subjective evaluation (Color Management)
(2) Measurement method - Objective evaluation (Device Calibration)
2. Focus of color evaluation:
(1) Single Color Stimuli
(2) Measurement method -Test target Test guide table
(3) Complex Image -Complex Color Image
(4) Visual method -Standard Test Image
3. Comparison of color evaluation
Category subjective evaluation objective evaluation
Methods Visual measurement method
Tool Test Image Standard image Test target Test guide table
Uses color conversion equipment calibration
4. Color difference
Finally, when we talk about color control, there is a concept that cannot be omitted, because in the end, whether it is the manufacturer, the customer or the printer, in order to maintain the color consistency of the last thing you see, you must pay attention to the problem of color difference.
1. The definition of Color Difference: refers to the size of the difference in color perceived by the eyes when comparing two kinds of color objects, referred to as ΔE.
2. Generally referred to as ΔE is the color difference formula of CIELAB uniform color space formulated by CIE in 1976.
Δ E = [(L1 and L2) 2 + (a1, a2) 2 + (b1, b2) 2] 1/2
3. In general
(1)Delta E > 6: unacceptable, human vision is easy to identify the color difference.
(2)Delta E < 4: Acceptable, human vision can identify the color difference, but not very obvious.
(3)Delta E < 2: Human vision can hardly recognize the color difference.
