What should I pay attention to when printing on specialty paper?
Picture album printing is a necessary propaganda material for many companies. In order to further enhance their corporate image, many companies will choose a distinctive paper-special paper when printing picture albums. High-grade paper can more intuitively highlight the company's strength.
However, special paper is different from ordinary paper in printing. Today, I will take you to understand the issues that should be paid attention to when printing special paper albums.
1, texture
When printing with special paper, pay attention to whether there is a conflict between the texture and the binding direction of the album. Use the most economical method to save costs and achieve good results; paper with rich surface texture and clear lines may not be printed with ink If the paper is concentrated, there will be slight leakage along the lines. Some special papers are uneven, so they cannot be used when the dots are very fine. The difference between some domestic pearlescent paper and imported pearlescent paper lies in the ink color, and the domestic paper has poor ink color and is usually darker after printing. Imported Pearlescent paper avoids such problems; therefore, it is not recommended to use domestic pearlescent paper for clothing albums with high color requirements. However, it is still possible to use domestic pearlescent paper for some album designs. This mainly depends on the design drawings and the customer's requirements for the printing effect of the album, after all, imported paper will be much more expensive.
2, ink
Special paper with a particularly smooth surface has poor ink absorption, and it will stick to dirt if you don't pay attention to it during printing. Therefore, it is best to choose fast-drying inks, and to add drying oil that can promote the rapid drying of the inks in each color ink, increase the drying speed of the ink, and avoid the problem of sticking on the surface of the paper during printing.
For special papers with a high degree of smooth surface, such as pearl paper, ice white paper, high-color smooth surface paper, etc., the ink color should not be too saturated during printing, and the normal ink supply can be used. Because the smoother the surface of the paper, the worse the ink absorption, and the greater the amount of ink supplied, the easier it is to stick to the back of the paper.
Special paper with a rough surface, such as hand-kneaded paper, double offset paper, rice paper, kraft paper, writing paper, Daolin paper, etc., which are textured and not smooth to the touch. When printing, this paper has good ink absorption, and the ink will penetrate into the lines of the paper. After the ink dries, the color of the printed product observed with the naked eye will become lighter and the printing quality will also be reduced. Therefore, for this special paper, the amount of ink supplied during printing is larger than usual, and the requirement for saturation is higher.
3, trial printing
When printing special paper, every time the machine is shut down and the machine is pressed, it will vibrate, which will make the first 10 printed products darker and cause color instability. Especially when printing flat screen jobs, too many downtimes will cause greater waste. In addition, due to the high price of special paper, the material margin given by the staff when placing the order is very small. In addition, the printing requirements for special paper are higher than that of ordinary paper. If you follow the usual printing habits, it is difficult for the captain to guarantee the printed quantity. And quality. Therefore, the captain’s assistant must place about 10 sheets of white paper or single-sided white paper (that is, jobs with one side printed on one side) on the special paper on the delivery table in the gap between the delivery table and the special paper. The leftovers are white on the back, and can be used to run ink on a printing machine when turned over). In this way, single-sided white paper or white paper of other thicknesses will be printed first after the machine is turned on. When the special paper is to be printed, the color can be stabilized and unified, thus ensuring the printing quality of the special paper.
4. Let dry
Different special papers have different ink absorption properties. The smooth surface of the paper is not easy to dry, so it must be left for a long time, and then sorted after drying, otherwise it will easily cause the back side to be smeared.
Special paper printing is not easy. Before printing, we must carefully control all links to ensure the smooth progress of printing production.
