1. Find the best scanning area for the platform scanner

We can find the best scanning area for the scanner, and we should place the image here to get the best, most fidelity image effect.

What to look for: Set all of the scanner's controls to automatic or default, select all areas, and scan a sample of blank, white, or opaque blocks at low resolution. Open AdobePhotoshop software, process it with the Equalize menu item, and you can see where cracks, streaks, and black spots appear on the scanner. We can print this file and cut out the best areas (i.e., the most stable areas) to help us place the image.

 

2. Rotate the image before scanning

Performing the rotation process is a waste of time, and the quality of the image will decrease depending on the Angle of rotation. If we know in advance how the image will be placed on the page, then using the protractor and the bottom edge of the manuscript to place the manuscript at a precise Angle on the roller and platform, we will get the highest quality image without having to rotate it in the image processing software.

 

3. Optimize scanner resolution

Scan the line draft, and the scanning resolution matches the output resolution. For example, prepare to use a 600dpi resolution printer to output results and scan at 600dpi. If possible, scale down large images after scanning. For example, if we scan a 4 x 4 inch image at 600dpi and reduce it to 2 x 2 inches in the assembly program, its resolution is 1200dpi.

 

4. Amplify, soften, and then add noise

If you enlarge a Photoshop file and want to minimize the quality loss of the image. After amplification, add 1 or 2 points of Gaussian softening, then add 1 noise. Make sure to check the jagged effect in a 2:1 view.

 

5. Scan the darkening manuscript

There are many reasons why desktop scanners do not scan dark images well. Often, adding a bit of noise is helpful for darker areas of such images.

 

6. Eliminate Newton rings

Newton rings often appear when scanning transmission originals. Cleaning the scanning drum and platform can reduce its production. But if it still exists, then use some simple methods: Part of it is to use the duster with the corn meal in it, go to the place away from the scanner, squeeze the corn meal out of the duster, let it spread through the air, and when the large particles of powder fall, hold the corner of the transmission, let it pass through the duster area, so that the fine particles in the air fall on it, to eliminate the purpose of Newton's ring.

 

7. When changing the image size, keep it checked

When we change the image size or canvas size in Photoshop, the selection activated before the operation is lost. If you want to keep the selected outline, switch to QuickMask mode before changing the size (press Q or select QuickMaster mode in the toolbar). The image size command can change the image size and mask size together. Canvas size changes do not affect selection size. (If you want to increase the canvas size, first set the background color to black so that the newly appearing white space is not selected.) When each command has been completed, return to standard mode and resume the options outline.

 

8. Maximize the color gamut of the scanned image

To increase the color range to take advantage of a 30 - or 36-bit scanner, use scanner software (such as Agfa's FotoTune or others) to adjust the colors as much as possible so that the image can be inserted with the widest gamut, since Photoshop only handles 24-bit images.

 

9. Combine images for better detail

What if the image we are scanning has a wider range of tones than our scanner or software can accommodate, such as sky clouds or skin tones with lots of highlight detail, and deep dark tones at the same time?

 

The best way to do this is to scan the image twice with the same scan resolution. But one image is adjusted to the maximum light detail and the other image is adjusted to the maximum dark detail. Open the image in Photoshop and open the Layer selection dialog of the layer template to place the two images on adjacent layers. This dialog gives us the Option to blend each scanned image (press Option to separate the sliders and make the middle transition smoother).

If you are using LivePicture software, Insert the image into adjacent layers and use the INSERT brush to draw more details from one layer to the next. This can be done in Photoshop using the brush and feather options. LivePicture software's resolution-independent brushes provide fast, natural blended image effects even at very high resolutions.

 

10. Make the size of the new image match that of an open image

When we create a new image in Photoshop, the program automatically matches the resolution and size set on the clipboard, but we can also make the size and resolution Settings of the newly generated image match any open image.

 

Open the New dialog box, go to the Window menu and select the name of any open file. Photoshop captures the size and resolution of the image and reflects it in the corresponding new dialog box. Also, in the ImageSize dialog, we can change the size of an image to match another selected file name; Or in the Canvas dialog box, cut a file so that it matches another selected file.
