Labels of different fabrics, adhesives and backing paper can be used on materials that are not suitable for ordinary paper labels.

 

The printing of self-adhesive labels is very different from that of traditional label printing. Self-adhesive labels are usually printed and processed on label linkage machines, with multiple processes completed at one time, such as graphic printing, die-cutting, waste discharge, cutting or rewinding. That is, one end is the input of the whole volume of raw materials, and the other end is the output of finished products. The finished product is divided into sheets or rolls of labels, and the finished product label can be directly applied to the product. Therefore, the printing process of self-adhesive label is more complex, and the requirements for equipment performance and printing staff quality are higher.

 

The basic structure and function of each part of the self-adhesive material. The structure of self-adhesive material from the surface is composed of three parts, namely, surface material, adhesive and bottom paper, but from the perspective of manufacturing process and quality assurance, self-adhesive material is composed of seven parts:

 

1. Surface coating

Used to change the surface characteristics of the face material. Such as improve the surface tension, change the color, increase the protective layer, so that it is better to accept ink and easy to print, to prevent dirt, increase ink adhesion and prevent the purpose of printing text and text off. Surface coating is mainly used for non-absorbent materials, such as aluminum foil, aluminized paper and various film materials.

 

2. The surface material is the surface material. It is the material that accepts the printed text and text on the front, and accepts the adhesive on the back and is finally applied to the paste.

 

Generally speaking, all flexible deformation materials can be used as self-adhesive material fabric, such as commonly used paper, film, composite foil, all kinds of textiles, thin metal sheet and rubber. The type of veneer depends on the final application and printing process. The surface material should be able to adapt to printing and printing, have good inking property, and have enough strength to accept a variety of processing, such as die cutting, waste discharge, slitting, punching and labeling.

 

3. Coat the bottom layer

4. Adhesive

Adhesive is the medium between the label material and the bonding substrate, acting as a bond. According to its characteristics can be divided into permanent and removable two kinds. It comes in a variety of formulations to suit different surfaces and different occasions. Adhesive is the most important component of self-adhesive material technology and the key of label application technology.

6. Backing paper

There are five types of self-adhesive materials:

2. Processing methods of paper self-adhesive labels

 

(1) Sheet of paper

In the printing methods of this kind of self-adhesive material, offset printing accounts for 95%, relief printing accounts for 2%, screen printing accounts for 2%, and computer and printing account for 1%. The self-adhesive label printing of single paper is the same as that of ordinary printing matter. Each process is completed on a single machine. It has low production efficiency, high consumption cost, but good printing quality. If the offset printing process is used, the quality of the label printed by four colors is much better than that of the similar products printed by the label press. However, because the self-adhesive products printed on single sheet paper are in the form of single sheet paper and cannot be rerolled, so such products can only be manually labeled, and can not be automatically labeled on the automatic labeling machine. Single sheet printing is suitable for large area of self adhesive color printing. Such as posters, posters, large area labels, etc., not limited to label products. It can be said that single-sheet self-adhesive printing is an important part of self-adhesive printing industry.

 

(2) Web paper

Web type self-adhesive material printing methods, at present, relief printing accounts for 97%, screen printing accounts for 1%, offset printing accounts for 1%, flexographic printing accounts for 1%.

Because of the web printing process, all the processes are completed in one machine, so the production efficiency is high, the consumption is low, the cost is low. At present, our label printing press is a relief printing form, with fewer functions, only suitable for printing simple color block, line pattern labels, not as good as single sheet offset label in printing quality. However, the label processed by web paper can be rerolled into a roll, which can be applied in automatic labeling machine, bar code printer, electronic scale and other equipment, so as to facilitate automatic production. Web printing self-adhesive label is the mainstream of self-adhesive printing in the world.

 

Two, film type self-adhesive printing processing technology

 

Compared with ordinary paper, film material has many advantages. Film material printing is the future direction of self-adhesive printing. Let's briefly introduce the structural characteristics, printability and post-press processing technology of thin film materials:

1. Structure and characteristics of thin film materials

(1) Structure

The film material has the same structure as the paper material, the only difference is that the surface of the material needs to be treated.

 

(2) Surface characteristics and treatment methods

The principle of ink layer forming pattern on printed matter is penetration, volatilization, conjunctiva, curing. Due to the high density of the film, only volatile ink, conjunctiva. The curing process is permeable, so the surface of the film needs special treatment. The role of surface treatment is to improve the surface tension of the film, so that it is greater than the surface tension of the ink, so as to achieve the correct combination of ink and film materials. There are usually several methods of surface treatment:

 

A Corona treatment: The high voltage charge is discharged to the surface of the film to ultimately achieve the purpose of increasing the surface energy, namely surface tension. Corona treatment is generally carried out in the film manufacturer. Due to the time limit of surface tension, strict detection is required before printing. As a result, some advanced devices have prepress corona processing devices in order to print high-quality film products.

2. Printing process of film materials

(1) Printing process of thin film materials

The basic printing methods are gravure printing: gravure solvent ink printing and gravure water-based ink printing; Offset: UV offset printing ink printing; Relief printing: divided into ordinary resin ink printing and UV relief printing ink printing; Flexo printing: divided into water-based ink printing, solvent printing and UV printing ink printing; Screen printing: divided into UV ink printing and solvent ink printing; Combined printing: It is divided into four printing methods: relief printing + screen printing, relief printing + flexo printing, flexo printing + screen printing, offset printing + relief printing. B, UV ink relief printing. This method has good printing quality and high efficiency. It is the most developed printing technology in China and the most suitable for national conditions. Because domestic relief printing equipment generally does not take UV device, film printing is limited, so equipment update, transformation is a necessary condition for printing film.

 

C, solvent ink flexo printing.

This is the traditional printing method, good quality. Due to the solvent ink surface tension is low, the film surface tension requirements are not as strict as other ink, so the ink layer firmness is strong, the process is relatively simple. But solvents affect environmental protection and harmful to human health, is a printing method that will soon be obsolete.

 

D. Water-based ink flexo printing. This is the most advanced printing method in the world today, with low cost, good quality and no pollution. But the process requirements are strict, film surface tension must be in 40 dyne above, on the ink PH value, viscosity has strict requirements. The technology is a kind of technology vigorously developed in China, but the development is slow due to the limitation of equipment.

 

E, UV ink flexo printing. Characteristics of the same as UV relief printing, high cost, but the film surface tension requirements are relatively not strict. General manufacturers use water-based ink printing, UV glazingway can reduce the cost, increase the printing effect.

 

F, UV ink screen printing. This new process can be single sheet or roll printing, high cost, good quality. Single printing does not have to hang on the shelf, web printing can be carried out at high speed.

 

G, solvent ink screen printing. This is a traditional process. Generally, single sheets are printed by hand, and web materials are printed by coupling machines. More than 95% of single sheet printing, good effect, low cost. But solvent screen printing ink is harmful to human body and pollution of the environment.

 

H, UV offset printing ink. Because the glue uses resin ink, so ordinary offset printing can not print film. Some manufacturers use a single overprint when printing PVC, put on the shelf to dry, and finally the way of film. But because the ink is not easy to dry, easy to rub dirty, so waste, productivity is very low. The use of UV offset printing is to avoid all the above problems, and can print a high level of film products.

 

I, gravure printing. Gravure printing rarely prints self-adhesive, but the printing quality is the best of all printing methods, is a potential printing method. In China, as long as the solution of post-press processing, the existing equipment can print high-quality self-adhesive labels.

 

J. Combined printing, also known as composite printing, is the most advanced printing method in the packaging printing industry in the world at present. According to different pattern design, in the same pattern using several methods of printing, to achieve the best visual effect. Overseas such equipment is very common, our country has two types: Japan's LINTEC SR-520B and SHIKY Company's F-330, the former is relief + silk screen printing, the latter is offset + relief printing.

 

(2) ink drying method

The ink on the film is divided into: oxidation polymerization drying (tree finger ink), volatile conjunctiva drying (solvent ink), evaporative conjunctiva drying (water-based ink) and photocuring drying (UV ink).
