At present, with the technical progress of printing enterprises, the overall level of printing quality of books and periodicals has been greatly improved, and some products have reached a higher quality level. However, in the detection and identification of a large number of books and periodicals products, it is found that there are some products with graphic process design is not standardized, which leads to product quality problems, affecting the improvement of the overall quality level of books and periodicals.

 

The process design of books and pictures mentioned here is not standard (unreasonable), including the process design of the publishing department and the process design of the printing house (the second process design) is not standard.

Common problems in the process design of books and pictures are as follows:

1. The design position of the layout center of books and magazines is not uniform, resulting in non-standard incision, stitching size, ceiling and foundation size, as well as the size of the white edge outside the layout center, which makes individual page numbers, book brow and eyebrow lines cut off, leading to product quality problems.

 

2, color illustration page stitching, incision size is too small (less than 2mm), or do not leave the stitching position, binding the illustration in the stitching, seriously affect the use of reading.

 

3. The distance between the captions of the text illustrations and the edges of the pictures is unreasonable. Some of them are too close (less than 2mm) and some are too far (about 7mm ~ 8mm above), which affects the tidiness of the captions. If it is the use of patchwork drawing process, when the description text and the edge of the drawing is too close (less than 3 mm), it is easy to pad when printing, resulting in virtual flowers and incomplete picture edge quality problems.

 

4, cover, cover, cover, cover and illustration text distance from the incision (or stitching) is too close (only 1mm ~ 2mm), this design is not only very ugly, and even may be cut, seriously affecting the quality and beauty of the finished product.

 

5, the cover, cover four "uniform color" design and the actual thickness of the book does not match, bound into the book appeared "uniform color" is not uniform, some inside and out more than 2mm ~ 4mm, it directly affects the overall design of the aesthetic effect of the book.

 

6, the same volume of masthead, head flower used flat screen background color difference, directly affect the decorative effect of the book and product quality.

 

7. Anti-white embossing inscription design flat screen background color is too light (dot area is less than 40%), easy to be mixed with the text after printing, difficult to distinguish, affecting reading.

 

8, black (a variety of dark colors) embossing inscription design flat screen background color is too deep (dot area more than 60%), after printing the word and background color easy to be mixed into one color, affect reading.

 

9, the text of the field background color setting is not reasonable (dot area 100%), the printed product background color is bound to be uneven, easy to print, pull paper wool, pile ink dirty.

 

10. The hollow words in the title of books and magazines are too fine and difficult to reproduce after printing, which will inevitably lose their due artistic effect.

 

The above quality problems of books and periodicals are mainly caused by the non-standard process design of graphics and graphics and the disposal of the business supervisor (production scheduling) of the printing house. Therefore, the specific situation of printing (printability) and the possible process ability to standardize the process design, in order to further improve the overall level of book printing. The specific practice is:

 

1, the layout center position should be unified (except for special requirements), in order to ensure that the book incision, the size of the mouth, the size of the roof, the size of the foot, the size of the white side outside the layout center, etc. When the size of the plate core is fixed, it shall not be changed at will in the group plate (plate) to ensure the correct process design.

 

2, illustration page stitching (white paper edge), no special requirements should be left at 12mm, the incision should be left at 3mm.

 

3. The distance between the captions and the edges of the illustrations in the text of books and magazines should be 3-5mm. Horizontal and vertical captions should be equidistant from the edges (left, right, top, bottom) and should not exceed the width of the drawing. If the number of words is more, can be arranged in two lines, three lines...... And keep the line spacing consistent with the text.

 

4. The distance between the text and the incision of the cover, cover 2, cover 3, cover 4 and illustration should be 5mm, so as to avoid errors and be cut off when binding the book.

 

5, cover, back cover design of the "uniform color" (cover and spine, back cover and spine of different colors) should be consistent with the thickness of the book, to prevent the binding of the book after the appearance of "uniform color" uneven disease, affecting the appearance of the book.

 

6, the same volume of book masthead character, head flower used flat screen background color, should choose the same percentage of mesh as the bottom, to prevent the appearance of deep disparity. Book printing paper, can choose 100 line ~ 120 line mesh, paint paper can choose 150-170 line mesh.

 

7. The dot area of the flat net lined by the black (dark) embossed inscription should be controlled at 20% ~ 30%, which can not only play a good decorative effect, but also facilitate the clear display of the text.

 

8. The flat net used for the anti-white embossing inscription should have more than 60% of the dot area to ensure that the text is clear.

 

9, cover, cover 2, cover 3, cover 4 and illustration decoration background color, should be plain without printing. If there is no special requirement for the background color, the coarse network cable of about 80% of the area of the dot can be used instead of the background color. This treatment can not only keep the background color plain clothes imprinting, but also play an important role in preventing sticky dirty, squatting dirty, drawing paper wool and stacking ink.

 

10. When hollow words are used in book titles, the white strokes of hollow words should be widened to prevent the white strokes from pasting dead and affecting reading when printing.
